National Union of Students welcomes Rudd’s revolution.

The national peak student body has welcome Kevin Rudd’s promise of a “revolution in education”. National Union of Students president, Michael Nguyen, stated “It is good to see the Australian Labor Party prioritising education… …the National Union of Students supports the ALP’s pledge to increase funding to the sector and awaits to see the details of the policy.”

Claiming that the key to higher productive is a highly educated workforce, Kevin Rudd has promised to vastly improve both the quality and quantity of education delivered in Australia. He claims that for a long period of time the federal government has been under funding education, while other countries have been increasing their spending in this sector.

Rudd emphasised that “Since 2001, almost 150,000 eligible applicants have been turned away from universities.” And that "due to substantial fee increases; university students now face the prospect of a large, long-lasting debt burden after they undertake their studies.” Rudd promises that under a Labor government Australia would aim to “become the most educated country”, by making education the number one priority for investment.
