February Toilet Review: A Sturt location with a Roman theme.

Door to the ToiletThis delightful location features natural lighting, spacious cubicles, and striking tiled walls. Located on the third floor of the Sturt south building (just down from the Sturt library) this toilet is an ideal location for teachers, nurses and paramedics. However its distance from the main campus makes it inconvenient for other students. This location could easily become one of the great toilets on campus with a few simple improvements and a little tender loving care. It is somewhat a shame that come 2008 this toilet will be abandoned when the teachers, and nurses move to main campus.

Toilet Décor and Atmosphere

The most striking feature of this location is the amount of space available. It would be easily possible to fit all the biggest loser contestants (pre-weight loss) in this room and still feel comfortable. The extensive space is lit using purely natural light, and although electric lighting was available this would only be needed at night.

The walls and floors of this toilet are decorated in a style that is reminiscent of Roman baths. The designers have used miniature white tiles interspersed with various shades of blue and black to create surfaces that are pleasing to the eye. The designers have selectively used wood grain around the facility and this provides a level of class that is too often absent from today’s modern toilet.

 Toilet Cleanliness

This location is pleasingly clean. It’s walls and floor appear to be exceptionally well cared for. The bins in the area were free from rubbish and the toilet bowls showed no sign of use.

While our reviewers visited this location a small device on the wall squirted sweet smelling fragrances into the rooms atmosphere, this was a comforting reminder that this location would always be at least a pleasant location to smell.

Toilet Facilities

This location is well equipped, containing four separate cubicles and a “piss-trough” it is comfortably large enough to accommodate the simultaneous use by at least 7 males. Four wash bowls are also provided with accompanying separate mirrors. A major feature of this toilet is it’s inclusion of a number of hand towel dispensers in addition to an electronic blow dryer.

Toilet Artwork

This toilet was disappointingly lacking in the artwork department. Although there was evidence of a number of primitive scratching in a number of the cubicles this location lacked the humorous and  meaningful phrases that are so often scrawled on cubicle walls around campus. The few examples of “art” that we did locate were poorly drawn and illegible scratching that wouldn’t have looked out of place on a cave wall.
