Flinders' Professor named 2006 Australian Uni Teacher of the Year

Professor Iain Hay, Head of the School of Geography, Population and Environmental Management at Flinders University has been announced as the recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for the Australian University Teacher of the Year.

This award is given to an academic with an exceptional record of advancing student learning, educational leadership and scholarly contribution to teaching and learning. The award also provides $50,000 for Professor Hay as recognition of these achievements.

This is second time in recent years that the prestigious award has been awarded to a Flinders University academic, with the top award going to Professor Mark Israel in 2004.

Professor Hay was amongst 22 other university lectures who were also honoured for their achievements. Amongst the awardees were a number of additional Flinders University lecturers including Dr Mary Heath, Associate Professor Claire Smith and Dr Heather Burke.
