Rudd on higher education???

Do you think that Rudd will be better for students than Howard? I noticed that since winning the Labor leadership Rudd has been pretty vocal in the area of higher education, and he seems to be saying the right things. For example he has stated today that the government hasn’t done enough to encourage higher education, less recently he has bemoaned the rising HECS debts and promised to increase the level of income support given to students while they are studying.
Do people here believe that Rudd will be genuinely better for student or is he just conscious of the need for labor to be competitive at the next election?

I think Rudd means what he says. A higher centrelink rate would be great, about time too.

Anything has got to be better than Howard. I much prefer Rudd to Beazley. I think I would have just voted Greens up and down if Beazley was still around. He was useless.

Yeah I agree, If it wasn’t for Rudd I would like Labor a lot less. However I will still preference the Greens first, Labor second and Liberal last.

I thought that Rudd was from the Right of the Labor party, wouldn't it be better to have someone like Julia Gillard as Labor leader.

I would never vote for the greens. They have crazy ideas. A few weeks they wanted to shut down Australia’s coal industry. Have you any idea what this would do to our economy, thousands of coal workers would be out of work and our trade deficit would be through the roof. Like I said, “the Greens have Crazy ideas”. I vote liberal mostly and occasionally Labor.
