The Harvard referencing doesn’t involve any footnotes at all. Rather it is a Author/date intext system. That means that you put a short reference next to in the text and a longer reference at the end of you document.

It looks something like this



All the stuff you want to say blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah (Author, year, page number). All the stuff you want to say blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah blah balah blah (another Author, another year, another page number).




Author, year, name of book, publisher, place published.




The actual formatting isn’t right but you can find that on the web in various places.

I really don't understand why some people get so hung up about the harvard referencing system. It really is pretty easy to use and if you have a good guide (like that unisa one) then you can't go wrong.
